Forest Trails and Critter Tales
Forest Trails and Critter Tales on Yahoo! Video
A 15-minute presentation recommended for grades 6 - 12 and beyond. Designed mainly for Kitsap County classrooms,
this nature video showcases our region's forested acreage and the amazing
variety of plants and animals that depend on this rich habitat. Your students may be surprised to learn that we human
residents share our county not only with giant trees that date back hundreds of years, but with wildlife species ranging
from eagles to elk, bears to bobcats, salmon to sapsuckers. Viewing this video may remind your students that they are
future stewards of these valued ecosystems.
This forest world is a complex ecosystem consisting of trees that buffer the earth and support our wild creatures. Trees are TREEmendous!
They go "out on a limb" and supply oxygen to breathe, cool the air, and give us some "releaf." Trees bark; they do no bite. Our trees and
critters are the forest and their roots are planted firmly. "We move through the forest; thus the forest moves through us."
